Organizing Chair, AM-FPD '13

I sincerely invite you to the anniversary of AM-FPD, the 20th International Workshop on Active-Matrix Flatpanel Displays -TFT Technologies and FPD Materials- (AM-FPD '13). Sponsored by the Japan Society of Applied Physics, and technical co-sponsored by Electronics and Photonics Division in the Electrochemical Society (ECS) and by IEEE Electron Devices Society, AM-FPD '13 marks the twentieth anniversary event in the workshop series. Since its inception in 1994, the workshop has been providing important opportunities for people engaged in the research and development of systems, devices&processes, materials for FPDs (Flat Panel Displays), Thin-Film Devices, and Photovoltaics. The active-matrix displays, active devices, and photovoltaics based on Thin-Film technologies are one of the key devices for facilitating the IT and low-carbon society.

AM-FPD'13 will prepare an attractive program focusing on topics such as thin-film transistors (TFTs), other thin-film devices, photovoltaics, circuitries and systems, LC technology, and crystallization, thin film materials and devices. The workshop will be opened with the 20th anniversary session. This session will start with four anniversary talks by Prof. Tatsuo Uchida (Sendai Nat'l College of Tecnol./Tohoku Univ., Japan), Prof. Yue Kuo (Texas A&M Univ., USA), Mr. Hiroyuki Ohshima (Japan Display, Japan) and Prof. Tetsuo Tsutsui (CEREBA/Kyushu Univ., Japan). After that, the workshop will provide the keynote addresses by Prof. Jin Jang (Kyung Hee Univ., Korea) and Prof. Makoto Konagai (Tokyo Inst. Technol., Japan). In addition to the regular sessions, there will be three symposia, “Breakthrough for Future Applications of Thin-Film Transistor”, “Flexible/Printed Photovoltaics” and “Current Status and Development Trends in Graphene Devices”, in which innovative and important technologies for future TFT, transparent conductive films, and photovoltaics. We will also prepare a special session of “Printing/Flexible Display Panels for Large Area, Thin and Lightweight Applications”. Our committees will separately schedule Japanese tutorial session before the workshop.

I believe that AM-FPD'13 will give all attendees some solutions for achieving both low-carbon and smart information society. I heartily welcome all of you and am looking forward to seeing you in Kyoto.
