  I sincerely invite you to the 26th International Workshop on Active-Matrix Flatpanel Displays-TFT Technologies and FPD Materials- (AM-FPD'19). Sponsored by International Society of Functional Thin Film Materials & Devices (FTFMD), co-sponsored the Japan Society of Applied Physics, and technical co-sponsored by IEEE Electron Devices Society, and by ECS Electronics and Photonics Division and Japan Section, AM-FPD'19 marks the 26th event in the workshop series, and is positioned as the workshop that is held under sponsor of general incorporated association FTFMD, which was established by our committees. Since its inception in 1994, the workshop has been providing important opportunities for people engaged in the research and development of systems, devices & processes, materials for FPDs (Flat Panel Displays), thin-film devices, and photovoltaics. The active-matrix displays, active devices, and photovoltaics based on thin-film technologies are one of the key devices for facilitating the IT、IoT and sustainable society. There is no doubt that importance of the devices will emphasize well into the future.

  AM-FPD'19 will prepare an attractive program based on a keywords of "Cutting Edge Applications Triggered by Thin-Film Devices", that stimulates our development minds of novel thin-film devices such as thin-film transistors (TFTs), other thin-film devices, photovoltaics, circuitries and systems, LC technology, and crystallization, thin film materials and devices. The workshop will provide the keynote addresses by Dr. JongUk Bea (LG Display Co., Ltd., Korea), Dr. David S. Hermann (VOLVO CAR CORP. AB, Sweden) and Dr. Kenji Yamamoto (Kaneka Corp., Japan). The special symposia on "Future Vehicle Display", which are organized by our European's core members, will be held by attending of the important persons from all over the world. In addition to the regular sessions, there will be three symposia, "New Technology for Logic Circuits toward Future Electronics", "Emerging Technologies for High-Efficiency PV" and "Recent Progress in Sensing Devices", in which innovative and important technologies for future TFT, transparent conductive films, and photovoltaics. We will also prepare a special session of "Advanced FPDs". Furthermore, our committees will separately schedule Japanese tutorial session before the workshop.

  I believe that AM-FPD'19 will give all attendees much solutions for achieving both sustainable and smart information society. I heartily welcome all of you and am looking forward to seeing you at Kyoto on July 2 - 5 in 2019.
